The basic idea of this trick is to get the online specials at the store so you don’t have to worry about going through the online check-out and waiting for it to be delivered.
This has been attempted twice and accomplished both times at a Circuit City in Champaign, Illinois. I will use my latest purchase as an example.
I went to Circuit City’s Web site and noticed the Battlefield 2 was on sale for $39.99. I also noticed that it said it was an online special only.
This was unfortunate because I did not want to deal with an online order and wait to play Battlefield 2. With this in mind, I decided to get it in store with this trick.
Firstly, you must print out the product you want to purchase so you can show the employee.
I played dumb and picked up Battlefield 2 and asked why online it said $39.99 and on the box it said $49.99. He noticed it was an online only special. I complained and said that I would have to wait a few days to play this game and it would be such a hassle.
He called a guy and asked if he could do I price match with the online price but he had to call someone else to verify. I overheard that if it has an online rebate that you most likely couldn’t’ do this (but I’m not sure if it will or will not work).
Once he got the “okay he rang it up at $39.99 and I got to take it home and play it without waiting for it to be delivered.
Try this out yourself and post in the comments if it works!
